EXP 2 WEEK 3 - Final Model in Lumion

This is the overall view of my light rail stop. It consists of two tram platforms on opposite sides of Anzac Parade and a bridge connecting them. My theme was UNSW's multicultural community so I heavily integrated the idea of connection in my model.

My darkest texture has been used as tiling for the tram platform and my lightest texture which mimics railway tracks has been added to the flooring underneath the trams. Organic looking beams act as a back 'wall' for the platform and connect to the shape of the bridge which is featured below.

A point of view shot of walking up the stairs shows the medium texture being used as a metal materials on the bridge and platform's roof. The combination curved metal beams and sharp and angular wooden sides of the bridge represent the contrasting cultures that form a connected multicultural community at UNSW.

I wanted to bring a sense of community throughout my work and located the platforms to be visible of one another and in close proximity with the bridge connecting the platforms as one holistic structure.

A shot depicting the platform meeting the main walkway and the wooden and metal beams' shape linking to the main road.

I had issues with my model's glass material in Lumion. My Sketchup model provides a better understanding of what was intended.

EXP 2 WEEK 3 - 36 Custom Textures

Light Texture

This texture was from row 2. Initially this texture was drawn as an organic and innovative material as I was thinking about both the technology and multiculturalism themes. However, I wanted to use this material as abstract railway tracks.

Medium Texture

This texture was chosen from row 4. I like the sharp angles of this texture and used for metal components in my model. I also changed the colour to grey to better represent the material.

Dark Texture

This texture was chosen from row 6. I used this a tiling for the platforms and changed the white slightly to a cream colour.

EXP 2 WEEK 2 - Light Rail Stop Development in Lumion

I used the 3 and 5 combination to begin developing my model.

I separated my axonometric in two parts. The top half acted as inspiration for the bridge and the bottom half was for the platform.

Since I separated my axonometric, I started developing the bridge by extruding the top half of the above model and hollowing it out and developed the 'L' shaped end as stairs.

EXP 2 WEEK 1 - Axonometrics in Lumion

Amanda experiments with materials and geometry to create seemingly weightless, but strong architectural forms that demonstrate her understanding of space and motion. (Frances)
Enric's designs consist of geometric shapes that helped embody the spirit of the city: He used the sites immediate context as inspiration, but twisted it into a coherent and individual building. (Ada)

EXP 2 WEEK 1 - Axonometric Drawings

Six Concepts

1. Amanda focuses on her facades to create a conversation/ cultural connection between the building location and purpose (Amy Leung)

2. Enric was a highly inventive architect, using the local environment and the buildings purpose to inform his designs (Amy Leung)

3. Amanda experiments with materials and geometry to create seemingly weightless, but strong architectural forms that demonstrate her understanding of space and motion. (Frances)

4. ”The connection to existing Heritage". Amanda breathed new life into the nearby heritage buildings by manipulating the spaces between and encouraging interaction between the new and old. (Nathalie)

5. Enric's designs consist of geometric shapes that helped embody the spirit of the city: He used the sites immediate context as inspiration, but twisted it into a coherent and individual building. (Ada)

6. Enric's shapes seamlessly blend together to form an elegant geometrical composition. (Amy Louise)
